Participants explored real-world AI applications, including Time Series Forecasting, Explainable AI, and Data Anonymization, through a combination of theoretical sessions and hands-on HPC demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>The program addressed key aspects of AI implementation, trustworthiness, and data protection, while highlighting how High-Performance Computing (HPC) enables faster experimentation, scalable model training, and advanced AI use cases relevant to business and research environments. The presentation explained how AI and machine learning methods can be applied to identify patterns, trends, and seasonality in sequential data, enabling more accurate forecasting across a wide range of real-world applications. The session demonstrated how to explore, preprocess, and visualize time-dependent datasets, highlighting key concepts such as trend detection, seasonality, and anomaly identification. The event brought together researchers from physics, computer science, social sciences, psychology, and artificial intelligence to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to studying collective trust in online and social systems.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop focused on understanding how trust emerges, evolves, and can be measured in complex social environments, particularly in digital and online communities. A central theme was the integration of computational modeling, natural language processing, network science, and agent-based simulations with empirical social data.<\/p>\n<p>Presentations covered a broad range of topics, including language technologies and text embeddings for the Serbian language, AI-driven narrative and misinformation analysis, large-scale social simulations, and the use of synthetic agents and large language models to study social behavior. Several talks introduced new datasets, modeling frameworks, and validation methodologies for analyzing trust dynamics at scale.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the workshop addressed psychological and behavioral aspects of online interaction, such as the role of personality traits, emotions, and nonverbal communication, as well as advanced mathematical and network-theoretic approaches to modeling collective cognition and higher-order social structures.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the workshop highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and high-performance computing\u2013enabled methods in advancing the scientific understanding of trust as a complex social phenomenon. The goal is to identify properties of social networks that foster or hinder the emergence, maintenance, and decay of trust. We invite everyone to view these informative recordings to learn about recent AI advancements across different sectors and to stay informed about innovative methods shared by regional specialists.<\/p>\n<p>In the seminar series, each country hosted a dedicated session exploring how Artificial Intelligence intersects with a different scientific or industrial field. The seminars aimed to share knowledge, inspire collaboration, and engage both academic and applied research communities within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hpc.rs\/blog\/eurohpc\">EuroHPC ecosystem<\/a>. The series attracted over 100 researchers and students focused on AI applications, HPC professionals, AI developers, industry partners seeking insights into applied AI, and members of the EuroHPC and NCC communities across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Over six sessions, the series highlighted the wide range of AI applications: from analyzing political dynamics and supporting diplomatic strategies to detecting aging biomarkers through advanced medical imaging. Participants also explored Large Language Models in studying online communities, AI&rsquo;s role in strengthening healthcare, and the transformative impact of foundation models in genetics and life sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond health and social fields, the series emphasized AI&rsquo;s influence on applied sciences and industry. The session on precision agriculture showcased practical examples of integrating AI with computer vision, IoT, and synthetic datasets to optimize farming and enhance decision-making in food production. Overall, these sessions demonstrated how combining AI with HPC capabilities drives breakthroughs across disciplines&mdash;linking fundamental research, practical applications, and cross-border collaboration within the European research landscape.<\/p>\n<h3>AI Meets Politics and Diplomacy<\/h3>\n<p>AI Meets Politics and Diplomacy was the first seminar in the EuroCC4SEE series - 5 Beats of Intelligence. It was held on <strong>20 May 2025<\/strong>. Dr. Onur Varol from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabanciuniv.edu\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Sabanci University<\/a> presented how different AI technologies and computational social science techniques are applied in politics and international diplomacy.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"AI Meets Politics and Diplomacy\" src=\"\/user\/pages\/03.events\/03.hpc-serbia-events\/98.5-beats-of-intelligence\/ai-meets-politics-and-diplomacy.jpg\"><\/p>\n<h3>AI Meets Biomarkers of Aging<\/h3>\n<p>AI Meets Biomarkers of Aging explored how AI, particularly computer vision and deep learning, helps identify and analyze aging biomarkers in retinal images. Dejan Babic from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.udg.edu.me\/en\" target=\"_blank\">University of Donja Gorica<\/a> demonstrated AI's role in advancing personalized medicine and early diagnosis of age-related diseases. A total of 28 speakers from the area presented how these technologies are utilized in the stunning <a href=\"http:\/\/palatanauke.rs\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Palace of Science<\/a> building in Belgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop began around noon on 20 May and concluded by the afternoon of 22 May. During the first half-day, we held sessions tailored for researchers. The second half-day focused on SMEs, while the afternoon of the second day featured presentations on the use of HPC in public administration. On the third day, we showcased examples of HPC applications in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop drew an impressive audience of approximately 100 participants eager to delve into these technologies.
