ENCCS, the national competence center for EuroCC in Sweden, will hold a webinar on HPC Workloads in the Cloud on 9 October 2025. This session targets HPC developers, researchers, and similar professionals interested in transitioning their workflows to the cloud or evaluating the feasibility of such efforts.
There is an increasing trend to run high-performance computing workloads in the cloud, fueled partly by major investments from cloud providers, especially for AI and machine learning tasks. However, the tools and software stacks in traditional on-premise HPC environments often differ from those in the cloud. This difference adds unnecessary complexity for users trying to switch between the two, limiting the portability and scalability of HPC applications.
One way to simplify transitioning to the cloud is by migrating HPC workflows in a structured and clearly defined manner. By outlining each step and the specific requirements of the original HPC workload, it becomes easier to leverage the scalability, flexibility, and services commonly available in cloud environments.
In the HPC Workloads in the Cloud webinar, we will examine the cloud ecosystem from an HPC specialist's perspective, highlighting its benefits and challenges. We will also introduce key concepts and tools that can assist in creating and managing cloud-based workflows, including, but not limited to, Apache Airflow.
